Viper Lineups Guide

Controller

Toxic Controller with the best area denial in Valorant. Viper's wall, orb, and ultimate create impenetrable zones that control round tempo.

Toxic Screen Wall Placements

Viper's Toxic Screen is the longest-duration wall in Valorant, lasting 15 seconds with 100 fuel. Unlike other controller walls, Viper's wall is curved freely in any direction, making it the most versatile smokes tool in the game. The wall drains 8 fuel per second while active.

On attack, the wall should cut defender sightlines, not block your own path. On Ascent, place the wall from A Main diagonally toward heaven — this blocks CT spawn's view of A site while letting your team push through A Main with full vision of site. Never place the wall parallel to your entry path; it should separate the site from defender rotations.

Breeze is Viper's best map. From attacker spawn, run the wall from B main across the back of B site to the pyramid. This cuts off defender vision from both cubbies and CT spawn entirely. Your team can walk onto B site and plant without ever being seen. The wall's length on Breeze covers two entire chokepoints.

Icebox requires creative wall placement. From attacker spawn on A site, curve the wall from A main through the belt to the back of A site. This blocks the Green container and the pipe's view of the site. On B, run the wall from B main across the back of site and up toward the Defender spawn. This isolates the post-plant fight to one-on-one duels.

On Bind, the wall from B cubby to the back of B site creates a safe plant zone. The wall's endpoint at the radiator covers any defender peeking from the teleporter exit. Your team can plant safely and hold crossfires from cubby and long.

Poison Cloud One-Way Smokes

Viper's Poison Cloud orb creates a spherical smoke that, unlike other smokes, can be picked up and redeployed. This flexibility makes it the most valuable smoke in the game for anchoring and retake scenarios. The orb drains 5 fuel per second while active and can be manually deactivated to conserve fuel.

One-way smokes are Viper's specialty. On Ascent B site, place the orb on top of the green box near default plant. Defenders pushing from B main can see your team's feet but you can see their heads — a free kill opportunity. The one-way angle is especially punishing when combined with a Judge or Spectre.

On Icebox, place the orb on the snow pile near B default plant. Attackers pushing from B main into site will have their heads exposed while their bodies are covered. This gives your team a free pick on anyone peeking. The orb can be retrieved after the first kill and redeployed elsewhere.

Snake Bite post-plant lineups win rounds. If you know the exact pixel to aim for the spike from safe cover, you can stall defuse for 8+ seconds without ever peeking. On Bind B site, stand on the radiator near cubby and aim at the right edge of the spike — a single Snake Bite covers the entire plant area and forces defuser to tank 60 DPS.

Ultimate — Viper's Pit Positioning

Viper's Pit creates a massive toxic cloud that fills the entire area around the orb, reducing enemy health and vision. The pit lasts 8 seconds and drains 50 fuel per second. Inside the pit, Viper gets a combat stim — faster equip speed and weapon switch, making her deadly in close quarters.

On defense, use the pit to stall the spike plant. When enemies execute onto site, throw the pit onto the default plant position. The pit forces attackers to either plant in the smoke (taking damage) or delay the plant and risk a retake timing. Coupled with a teammate mollying the pit, you can stall for 15+ seconds.

On retake, the pit is even more powerful. On Split B site, throw the pit from B heaven onto the site. The pit covers the entire bombsite, letting you and your teammate clear the site without being seen. Viper's stim inside the pit means you swing faster and kill before the enemy can react.

Covering the spike defuse is the most reliable use of the pit. After a successful plant, position yourself at a post-plant angle and drop the pit on the spike. When the defuser steps in to defuse, they take 30 damage per second and can't see anything. You can peek into the pit from outside and kill them easily.

Fuel Management and Orb Regeneration

Viper's fuel management separates good Viper players from great ones. Your total fuel pool is 100, and both the wall and orb drain from the same pool. The wall drains 8/sec, the orb drains 5/sec, and the ultimate drains 50/sec. Running both the wall and orb simultaneously drains 13 fuel per second — giving you about 7.5 seconds of dual uptime.

Proactive fuel management means knowing when to drop the wall. After your team has taken a site, immediately toggle the wall off to conserve fuel. Keep the orb active to cover the plant, then reactivate the wall if a retake starts. Cycling the wall on and off extends your effective smoke time from 12 seconds to 25+ seconds.

The orb can be picked up and re-deployed infinitely. After the initial site take, grab the orb and reposition it to a post-plant one-way. This conserves fuel and gives you a new smoke angle. The orb pickup animation takes 2 seconds, so plan your repositioning during safe moments.

On Breeze, a common fuel-saving strategy: place the B wall at full length for site take, then immediately toggle it off. Plant the spike, then reactivate the wall only when you hear the defuse sound. This stretches your fuel across the entire post-plant without gaps.

Viper Snake Bite lineups win post-plant rounds. If you know the exact pixel to aim for the spike from safe cover, you can stall defuse for 8+ seconds without ever peeking.

Snake Bite Post-Plant Lineups

Snake Bite post-plant lineups are Viper's most reliable round-winning tool. The ability deals 60 damage per second in its area, forcing any defuser to either step off or die. On Ascent A site, stand at the cubby near A main to land the molly directly on default plant. See the Valorant Wikipedia page and Viper page on Valorant Wiki for more.

On Bind B site, stand on the radiator in cubby and aim at the right edge of the spike model. This lineup deposits Snake Bite directly on top of the spike. Practice these lineups in custom games until they become muscle memory.
