German sentinel with the best defensive utility in Valorant. Killjoy's turret, alarmbot, and Nanoswarms lock down entire sites solo.
Killjoy's turret is your free pair of eyes. Place it in high-traffic angles where it will spot enemies the moment they peek. The turret deals 13 damage per shot and fires 3 shots per second — not enough to kill but more than enough to reveal enemy positions and chip away at their HP over time.
On Ascent B site, place the turret on the box near back site facing B main. The turret spots anyone entering from B main and gives your team 2 full seconds of advance warning. Pair it with an alarmbot at the B main entry to create a detection gauntlet that no enemy can pass silently.
The alarmbot applies Vulnerable for 4 seconds, making the enemy take double damage. This combos perfectly with your Nanoswarm. Place the alarmbot at common entry points and a Nanoswarm just past it — when the alarm triggers, detonate the swarm. The enemy takes double damage from the swarm while vulnerable, dying in under 1 second.
On Fracture, place the turret on the metal beam above A site facing the drop-down. The turret's high position makes it very hard to destroy, and it will spot anyone dropping into A site. Combine with an alarmbot at the A main door to catch both entry paths simultaneously.
Killjoy's Nanoswarms do 45 DPS — that's 180 damage over 4 seconds. Two nanoswarms on spike = guaranteed kill on anyone defusing. Learning lineups from common post-plant positions is the most valuable skill for any Killjoy main.
On Ascent post-plant, stand at the back of A site behind the box. Aim at the left edge of the pillar near heaven and fire the first swarm. Wait 1 second, fire the second. Both swarms land exactly on the default plant position. Anyone stepping on to defuse takes full damage from both swarms and dies before the 4-second defuse completes.
On Bind B site, stand in cubby and aim at the radio dish on the roof. The first swarm bounces off the dish and lands on default plant. The second swarm is a straight shot from cubby to the spike. Stagger them 1.5 seconds apart and no defuser can survive the combined 360 damage over 8 seconds.
On Icebox B site, stand behind the blue container and aim at the hanging pipes above the plant area. A single bounce sends the swarm directly to default. Use this lineup to delay defuse while your team rotates — 4 seconds of swarm buys you 5+ seconds of rotation time.
Killjoy's ultimate Lockdown creates a 12-meter radius zone that, after a 7-second windup, detains all enemies inside for 8 seconds. A detained enemy can't move, shoot, or use abilities. Placed correctly, Lockdown is a guaranteed round win.
On Ascent A site, place the ultimate on the heaven platform. The radius covers the entire A bombsite, the short corner, and the CT spawn entrance. Enemies have only two escape options: run into the open to leave the zone or hide in a corner and pray. Neither option helps them defend the site.
On Breeze B site, place the ultimate in the center of the site behind the pillar. The radius covers both cubbies, the back of site, and the CT entrance. Start the ultimate the moment your team commits to the execute — the 7-second windup perfectly aligns with your team's site-clearing timing.
Bind A site ultimate placement: put it in the corner between A short and the screens. The radius forces enemies to either push through A short (where your team holds), retreat to CT (where your team watches), or hide at the back of site (where they can't see the spike). Every escape path leads to death.
Killjoy is a sentinel who excels at both holding and retaking sites. On retake, your utility is even more valuable because enemies don't know where your setup is. Drop a turret at the retake entry point and toss a Nanoswarm onto the spike before your team even peeks.
On Pearl, retake A site by placing the turret at A main before peeking. The turret gathers intel while your team watches the minimap. Toss a Nanoswarm onto the default plant — the defuser must either tank the damage or stop defusing, both of which give your team time to close the distance.
Always save one Nanoswarm for post-plant defense. If you use both swarms during the site take, you have no post-plant utility. A good rule: use turret + alarmbot + one swarm for site take, save the second swarm for after the plant. This gives you guaranteed post-plant defense.
Don't place all your utility in the same spot. If the turret and alarmbot are next to each other, one shock dart or grenade destroys both. Spread your setup across the site — turret on one side, alarmbot on the other, Nanoswarms in the middle. This forces enemies to use multiple utility pieces to clear your setup.

Killjoy's alarmbot and turret create a deadly combo when placed strategically. The alarmbot detects enemies in a cone and debuffs them with vulnerability (+25% damage taken), while the turret automatically fires at any enemy in range. Placing both near default plant creates a detection zone that makes post-plant defense nearly impossible. See the Valorant Wikipedia page and Killjoy page on Valorant Wiki for more.
The key to effective Killjoy setup is spacing. Place the turret and alarmbot on opposite sides of the site so that clearing one doesn't reveal the other. On Ascent B site, put the turret behind Market doors and the alarmbot near the back of B site. This covers both the default plant position and the Boathouse approach.
